Short History of ADMA-Myanmar

In early 2021, the Provincial assigned Fr. Joachim Ye Maung to take charge of the initiation of ADMA in the Vice-Province. With this in mind, he requested Fr. Clement Yan Naing Tun to translate the ADMA Rule Book into the Myanmar language, and Fr. Justin Aung Htet Zaw to translate the history of the devotion to Mary Help of Christians. Moreover, at the humble request of Fr. Joachim, Fr. Andrea Maung Maung also did the voice-over for a short video clip on Mary Help of Christians and prepared the design of the Rule Book, printing the first 70 copies at the Social Communication Office.

In 2023, Fr. John Gam Seng, the new Delegate for the Salesian Family, with the help of Fr. Edward Sein Myint, took care of the different stages of formation for the first group of ADMA Aspirants. After much effort and dedication, ADMA was fully established. Thus, on 24 July 2024, at 6:30 a.m., ADMA was officially initiated in Myanmar, with 66 new members making their Promise to Mama Mary in the presence of the Superior, Fr. Bosco Nyi Nyi, and members of the Salesian Family at the Shrine of Mary Help of Christians in the Don Bosco–Nazareth compound.

During the ceremony, medals, Rule Books, badges, membership cards, and uniforms were given to all the members who made the Promise. In the preceding days, they had also undergone intensive preparation, including formation and discernment courses, a full-day recollection, and approaching the Sacraments of Confession and the Communion. There are also a good number of laity waiting for their memberships.
