Anisakan, Pyin Oo Lwin, Myanmar (MYM)_ From February 19 to 21, the General Councilor for Social Communication, Fr. Fidel, conducted a three-day seminar at Don Bosco Provincialate entitled “Salesian Leadership, Management, and Communication for Mission” for members of the Provincial Council, rectors, and heads of their respective settings from all over Myanmar. About 30 participants attended. During the seminar, Fr. Fidel also preached at Holy Mass and gave the good-night talk each day.
The talks inspired participants to reflect and renew their spirit of Salesian leadership and management. Through group discussion, they recognized that competence in leadership and management needs to become more credible and effective. They observed that leadership roles, mutual trust, shared responsibilities, formation, and human relationships need strengthening. They also realized they still need to overcome a closed mentality and subtle individualism.
Moreover, they also admitted that they still need to commit themselves to ensuring formation, clear guidelines, and shared responsibilities in the service of the mission, to evaluating their action plans annually, and to updating their knowledge, skills, and attitudes through various courses.
At the end of the seminar, Superior Fr. Bosco Nyi Nyi, in his words of thanks, expressed sincere gratitude to Fr. Fidel for his fraternal visit—especially during this difficult period—and for sharing his precious thoughts and wisdom with the Myanmar Salesians.
On February 22, after preaching the Sunday Mass for the Salesian Family members and the parishioners, Fr. Fidel and Fr. Paul Sathish, accompanied by a small group of Salesians, went down to Mandalay International airport to proceed to India, Guwahati Province.
